02.11.2019 – 22.03.2020, Kadriorg Art Museum The University of Tartu is the birthplace of Estonian art research and scholarship, the first Estonian art museum and the first art educational institution: a drawing school. The University of Tartu, founded in 1632 and reorganised as an Estonian-language national university in 1919, is an important pillar of the Estonian art scene: the works from the University of Tartu art collection are often shown at exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. 16.06 – 13.10.2019, Kadrorg Art Museum Exhibition commemorates a significant historical event for Estonia and Denmark, the Battle of Lyndanisse, which for Estonia means that Tallinn was mentioned for the first time in written sources and, for Denmark, marks the legendary moment of the birth of the Dannebrog, the national flag. The exhibition at the Kadriorg Art Museum will open with a programme of formal events marking the 800th anniversary of the Dannebrog.
