| Description: | The title Lemon Under the Bed may at first sight create confusion in a viewer: in the foreground of the scene there is totally different activity, but the lemon fallen under the bed indicates events that have already taken place. Nevertheless, the lemon in the drawing is important; the bright yellow stain is one of the few accents of colour in the work. It helps to create tension and intrigue in the composition. The style of Lemon Under the Bed calls to mind a frame from an old film, particularly in the retro interior and clothing of the characters. However, the clumsy, sometimes grotesque but naïvely optimistic dramaturgy distinguishes it from silent films. Elnara Taidre |
