Description: | Alice Kask paints male nudes. Some of them are partly painted as grey, shadowy figures and partly as detailed, living, bodily landscapes. Others - painted in a thoroughly realistic way - fuse together with the blackish painted surface that turns out to be burnt plywood. Semi-realistic and half generalized bodies often seem to dwell in their own emptiness. At least in two instances, the realistic bodies painted on plywood establish a connection with other male bodies or their body parts. Although all paintings depict the same subject - the naked male body - and use very similar means, they speak in different languages, despite the fact that the message is similar or the same.
