The sympathetic twin-portrait of an Indian and an Asian is a part of Peeter Allik's painting series “The Secrets of the 20th Century" but it could just as well fit into another series “Radically Correct". The picture combines lush naivism with (neo)-pop poster art. It is reminiscent of a superficial scene out of some brochure of “The World of Life" movement in which sheep and wolves are walking hand in hand towards a brighter future. The two characters symbolize different concepts of mythical freedom and strategies of reaching this freedom: it is a politically correct illusion of a conflict-free co-existence. The pretentious title sounds like a provocative slogan. However we cannot talk about emphasized socialism when dealing with Allik's work - it is more like an associative game with the worlds of picture and myth, with an added a touch of humor and absurd. “What is this foolish element in Allik's works - why can we not be sure that we are dealing with a serious artist? Why can we not remain serious when looking at his works? It is good that all the characters have frozen in their theatrical poses and do not rush around the picture in a Futuristic manner. We have time to ponder the short circuits of the history of the end of the century."* Anu Allas. * Johannes Saar, Peeter Allik.- Estonian Artists II.
