The painter and printmaker Franz Marc was one of the key figures of the German Expressionist movement and a founding member of the group Der Blaue Reiter (the Blue Rider).
There is a stamp at the back of the woodcut confirming the authenticity of the print: it states that the impression was taken from the original printing block. The impression also includes the signature of the artist’s widow, Maria Marc.
